Knowing your decorating style (Go through the decor blogs, magazines, Pinterest or Instagram to know what your decorating style is). 2. Colour Palette: Read about the colour wheel, effects of colours on our emotions, how to mix and match colours and once you know all this, half the battle is won. Colour palette is generally categorized into warm, cool, neutral and earthy. 3. Lighting: There should be three types of lighting; task, ambient & accent To give a festive touch to your decor accent & ambient light are important. It can be wall sconces, floodlights, recessed lights, torchère lamps, or track lighting, fairy lights, tealights etc. 4. Patterns & Textures: Patterns and textures are important to tie all the elements together. Try to create a balance of the colours, patterns & textures to create an eye-pleasing and cohesive look.
